UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and require replacement. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.
The top screw position, the lever and the keyhole dimensions are the three measurements you have to check. Use the size guide to assist you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made from robust materials, and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The handle can be positioned and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit the widest range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle a high performance and durability to serve its intended purpose.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with a spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is often beneficial when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which eliminate the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when they are not being used.
When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right handles.
When you have the right PZ size you will then need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. They typically have of a round or square shape with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles are available in left and right handed versions that allow them to be placed on either side of doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock and allow them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with internal and external doors usually requiring different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders, whereas doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however, if this is not possible, you may take it off to measure. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This helps deflect the attack and protect your doors.
There are cylinders that are made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent method of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in, which could hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated inside the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. Previously a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism is disengaged. Adding this simple component is among the best methods to correct this issue and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.
These spring cassettes were designed to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in a single unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of sagging door handles . These spring cassettes are easy to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
